I Am Only The Head Of Those That Went Before Me: A Twenty-Year Retrospective, The Mark Rothko Centre, Daugavpils, Latvia, 2014

The following images are from Griffin's twenty-year retrospective "I Am Only The Head Of Those That Go Before Me" at the Mark Rothko Centre in 2014.

The Mark Rothko Centre in Daugavpils, Latvia is place of Rothko's birth and childhood. The centre contains works by Rothko donated by his son and daughter, Christopher and Kate.

Contemporary Jazz Event, London, 2014

In 2014, two contemporary jazz musicians Tom Donald (piano) and Sirena Riley (vocals) visited Griffin's studio. They created a suite of vocal and instrumental pieces relating to Griffin's paintings, along with the percussionist Gorka Diez and the bass player Rob Paterson. Each set comprised of vocal, instrumental and improvised pieces along with Griffin reading some poems to a musical backing. Each particular number was performed in front of the specific image relating to the music. Two concerts were performed one at the opening of Griffin's retrospective at the Rothko Centre and a second one at the Pheasantry jazz club in London. More concerts are planned.
